Barbara Sladonja
Dr.sc. Barbara Sladonja graduated in Biology, mastered in Ecology from the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb, and had her PhD in the field of Natural Sciences, field of Aquaculture in Italy. She worked as a researcher at a number of scientific institutions across Europe and beyond, where she specialized in integrated coastal and sustainable management. She has participated in numerous leading national and international projects and has published over 50 scientific papers in the field of biology and biotechnology. In these projects she was in charge of laboratory analyses, field work, data processing and popularization. In addition to scientific work, her favorite professional engagements are related to working with children and the transfer of knowledge. Ecology is her interest and vocation
Danijela Poljuha
Dr. sc. Danijela Poljuha graduated from Biology, Molecular Biology course at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of the University of Zagreb, where she also holds a PhD degree in the field of Natural Sciences in the field of biology. She has worked as a researcher at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Zagreb, at the Institute for Agriculture and Tourism Poreč and the Istrian County Research Center METRIS (Istrian Development Agency) and has, for several occasions, received further training in Croatia and abroad. She has participated in numerous national and international projects and has published over 50 scientific papers in the field of biology and biotechnology. She is the founder of two laboratories and the Biotechnical Department of the Research Center. Her research interest is aimed at herbicide genetics and the application of molecular markers in the preservation and conservation of genetic resources in horticulture. In addition to scientific research, she also deals with popularization of science.
Mirela Uzelac
Mag. oecol. Mirela Uzelac graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Zagreb. During her academic education she participated in the projects of popularization of science and education as a mentor at the Night of Biology event. She wrote popular and scientific articles in the field of ecology and had participated in the field work of mapping marine habitats, and in the development. She gained her work experience through education, working on projects and in the chemical laboratory of the Rovinj tobacco factory. In addition, she is interested in all things digital and refers to herself as an eternal optimist and a playful biologist
Nataly Milovan
Nataly Milovan, Univ. bacc. mariscient., is a conservation biologist currently completing her Master’s degree in Nature Conservation at the Faculty of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Information Technology of the University of Primorska in Koper. During her academic education, she led scientific educational workshops at the Science and Education Centre Kontija and also collaborated with the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism as an educator in scientific educational workshops about the sea and invasive species. She also completed her professional student internship at the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism in the team of Barbara Sladonja, PhD. She loves the sea and nature, with a particular interest in invasive species. Her work focuses on biodiversity conservation and the protection of marine and terrestrial habitats.

Danijela Damijanić
Mag. oecol. Danijela Damijanić graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the University of Zagreb. During her academic education, she conducted scientific educational workshops for children in the Summer Camp of the City of Poreč. She gained experience as an assistant in the PQE (Process, Quality & Environment) department of the Rockwool factory. She is a nature lover and is interested in ecology and its connection with other sciences.
Tina Tominić, Faculty of Science in Zagreb (Croatia)
Our dear associate Tina Tominić is a geologist who conducted educational workshops in the Summer Camp of the City of Poreč during the summer of 2020. The children could collected organisms from the sea, watch them through the aquarium, learned about fossils, ecology and environmental protection.
Clara Garau, University of Cagliari (Italy)
As a newly graduated scientist in the field of “Science and Technology for the Environment” at the University of Cagliari (Italy), Clara had the opportunity to do an internship at the Invasive Species Centre in Poreč. The internship lasted two and a half months, from late September to mid-December.
Tim Weber, University of Westminster (UK)
While studying at the University of Westminster, Tim did an internship at the Invasive Species Centre and at the Genetics Laboratory of the Institute of Agriculture and Tourism. During his stay in Croatia, Tim participated in the A. altissima mapping project in the area of the City of Poreč.
